Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

This morning's altar flowers are donated to the Glory of God in loving memory of Phyllis Scheffler by Frank and Sue Orts.

Vacation Bible School "ROAR! Life is Wild; God is Good!" begins tomorrow morning and lasts all week from August 19-23. The cost is only $10 per child. Adult and youth leaders are also needed. If you have any questions, contact VBS leader Lindsay Gilbert at (860) 707-6743. Registrations are still being accepted on Monday morning, August 19.

Worship Assistants are needed. Please consider joining in to assist during worship. If you might be interested, please speak with Pastor Johnson for further information.

The hospitality sign-up sheet for July through December is on the link table. Please help support our Sunday coffee hours by signing up for a couple of weeks during this period.

Our need for lawn care continues. If you are able, please contribute any amount toward our bi-weekly lawn care, which costs about $200 per month. Please write "Lawn care" on your envelope or in the memo line of your check. We have a sign-up poster on the link bulletin board if you would like to sponsor a week from now through October.

Our Circle School is still accepting registrations for the fall. Call today 914-271-8950 for information. The Circle School is a cooperative, not-for-profit preschool offering half-day programs for 2, 3, and 4 year olds taught by certified teachers, as well as parent/child playgroups for 12-24 month olds. Circle School aims to enhance a child's self-image, self-confidence, and independence through a positive learning experience in all developmental areas: physical, social, emotional, and intellectual. Age-appropriate programs consisting of free play, art, music, literature, dramatic play, and outdoor play all expand and enrich this positive group experience.

Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief: Cleanliness may not actually be next to godliness, but it certainly helps a person feel more human. When families find their homes destroyed or must flee for safety, soap and a towel rarely make the cut for what they can carry. Arriving at a refugee camp or other place of safety, they are scared, vulnerable, and dirty from the travel. The simple items included in a personal care kit provide much-needed self-care, critical germ fighting, and the chance to regain dignity amid situations of fear and uncertainty. Each kit includes:

Toothbrush multi-packs may be used. They will be repackaged individually in a white envelope. Items mujst be new and not have any flags or military or religious symbols. We are collecting these items until September 30. Please put your donated items in the box at the back of the sanctuary. If you have questions, please see Karen Polacek or Frya Barnes. Thank you!

Christian Crafters are now turning their busy hands and sights to crafts for the December Christmas Fair. Please join us in fun and fellowship. Bring ideas and willing hands. All are welcome! Please see Lois Leonard if you have any questions.
