This Sunday Croton Caring will be joining us and hosting our coffee hour. Please come and see all the wonderful things Croton caring is doing for the community.
There have been a slew of announcements the last week and, if you missed them, here they are. The council and I have been busy finding new ways to connect to the community and help our area. We have six new offerings for the congregation and community.
One of the newest offerings will be on Maundy Thursday. A good friend and colleague Pastor Lena will lead a dinner church at 6 p.m. on Maundy Thursday. This is a mix of worship and a meal, hence the earlier start time. We gather for confession, move into the fellowship hall for one aspect of communion, eat a meal, have dessert, sing, and come together to strip our altars. It is a moving service. We will need an accurate count of how many will be there as there is a meal involved and all attending can bring something to add to the meal. The focus is on Mediterranean food and if you have a way of preparing it with a vegan option, that is a bonus, as our guest is vegan. Come out and we can experience this service together.
Two programs for elementary school girls will be held in our education wing, a girls empowerment group during the upcoming school vacation and an after-school program. You may contact the church office for information.
Croton Caring and the Croton Free Library will begin offering free children’s books to families who need books for their children, but struggle with cost. These books will be in our education wing in the downstairs area some time following the next library sale.
Finally, in July, there is a retreat with Faith Lutheran at Koinonia. I will be leading the weekend and Our Saviour is invited to join. It is $252 per person for two people to share a room for two nights. If you want a single room add $100. That cost includes 4 meals – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Saturday and Breakfast Sunday. There is one more upcoming program, but the details have not been worked out yet, so stay tuned.
