Good day siblings in Christ,
As I shared last week during the service, the council and I talked about whether we should continue to worship outside during the summer. After a bit of discussion, we decided to stay indoors throughout the year. This allows us to have air conditioning and not need to direct people to the right place. We have had a few visitors in the last few weeks, so hospitality is important. This means if you desire to mask while indoors, you should bring a mask with you.
Baby care kits for Lutheran World Relief
On July 17 we will be cutting up donated T-shirts during coffee hour to be used as sleep shirts in baby care kits for Lutheran World Relief. Everyone can do this–kids, adults, everyone! “This is a God’s work. Our hands.” activity, so if you have a GWOH T-shirt, wear it!
Christmas in July
On July 24 we will have a Christmas in July service. This year’s Christmas Eve had many Covid warnings, which hovered over all of our services. On July 24 we are going to sing some Christmas songs and have a little fun.
Answering questions I’m sometimes asked
Throughout the year, I get questions from members that I think a larger group would like to hear answered. I have decided to do a small video series on some of those questions. I haven’t figured out the schedule yet, but it might run during the summer on our Facebook and YouTube pages. Look for it to upload soon. The questions I expect to address so far are:
- Are we Evangelicals if we are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)?
- Why do we not have Jesus on the cross in Lutheran churches, while many Catholic churches do?
- Why do we pass the peace before communion?
- What makes us different from other Lutheran denominations?
