Good morning siblings in Christ,
This is the big week! It is Holy Week and it is a reflective time in the church as we move from Maundy Thursday where Jesus has his last supper, to Good Friday where we hear the crucifixion narrative, and finally to Easter where we hear the Good News of the risen savior.
Surprisingly, I also have a funeral this afternoon, gathering with those who are mourning. It shows that even in the midst of busyness, life, death, and resurrection are an everyday occurrence. Tonight I get to preach to a family in mourning the promises of the resurrection.
Bulletins for all three services this week are on the website. Due to Maundy Thursday being a meal, a 20 minute video will premiere on YouTube at 6:00 p.m. with a modified Maundy Thursday service. Reservations for the meal are now closed so our cooks can prepare their dishes. We have 18 people coming for this initial meal.
The Good Friday service is at 7:00 p.m. This is a quiet and darker service where we focus on the last words of Christ and the bidding prayer. There is no communion at this service.
The Easter service will be at 10:00 a.m. and we hope you can join us. Following worship there is a coffee hour with some yummy snacks. Communion is definitely part of this service of song and celebration. I like to remind those with allergies, like me, there will be lots of flowers present, so take that allergy medicine.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter and a joyous celebration with family. May you know the resurrection joy during this season.
